On September 3, 2026, Bacularis 6.5.0 was released. The latest stable version of the web interface for Bacula introduces several new features and improvements. The most significant addition is Restore Verification, a feature designed to automate backup restore testing.
In the Bacularis 6.5.0 announcement on the Bacula-Users mailing list, the Bacularis developers explain that Restore Verification is not just a single built-in feature, but a flexible framework for creating and running automated restore tests. According to Marcin Haba, project lead of Bacularis, its goal is to make the work of backup administrators easier by automating test restores:
A successful backup does not necessarily guarantee that the required data can later be restored correctly. For this reason, administrators often perform periodic test restores. The new Restore Verification feature in Bacularis makes it possible to automate this process.
– says Marcin Haba.
More information about Restore Verification is available in a dedicated section of the Bacularis documentation.
Version 6.5.0 also brings updated French translations. Philippe Ramage, a member of the Bacularis user community, prepared updates covering both the web interface and the API administration panel.
Another important change in Bacularis 6.5.0 is compatibility with Bacula 17.0. At the time this article was prepared, the stable release of the Bacula 17.0 branch had not yet been published, so Bacularis support was developed and tested using Bacula 17.0 Beta, whose release was recently covered by Bacula News.
Bacularis 6.5.0 also introduces several new API capabilities, including:
- New endpoints for Restore Verification
- New search parameters for existing endpoints
- New grouping parameters for existing endpoints
- New time-range parameters for job endpoints
- A new comment parameter for the run job endpoint
The web interface has also been extended with two additional columns in the Bacula jobs table. They provide information about the next scheduled execution of a job:
- Next run
- Starts in
